Work up to week ending 22nd May

Attention this week has been focused on ensuring links work in EIT Online, changed an element of my content, adding a section for APU differences.

Poster completed and blog nearly finalised

Work up to week ending 15th May

This week I have concentrated on enhancing the design, ensuring all links work correctly, recording some audio.

I have approached Stephanie Day to enquire about having my learning object put into EIT online, she has set this up for me, so my LO will be available on EIT online.

Work up to week ending 8th May

This week I finalised my content and showed the initially design to my audience. The following comments where made with regard to changes that need to take place.
  • Needed audio content
  • Too much details, looking concentrate only on jet aircraft, therefore removing propeller aircraft section, this could be into another.
  • Edit the video a little more.
I started to investigate how I can present my articulate project, I tried to publish a few slides to my blog but this was unsuccessful, I also researched the Dropbox option but this is not the most user friendly and will not longer be supported in the future.

I therefore need to investigate further as I currently have no platform to put my project on.

Work up to week ending 1st May

My trip to Auckland was a success, I have all the images and the video required. I used Microsoft Live Movie Maker to edit my video I tried to use several edit packages but was unable to change my file format from MOV easily.

I have decided to go with using Articulate Storyline as it has more functions and options. I created an action with SlideShare, as I think this will be a good platform for sharing my project.

This week was spent making the project more user friendly, now 99% of content is complete I will be adjusting the material to suit the needs to the user, making it more child friendly.

Work up to week ending 25th April

My aim this week was to ensure all the content was available, and loading it into Power Point. I have downloaded Articulate Storyline to maybe use as a back up to Power Point incase the functions I need are not suitable. I have been spending time learning how to use Articulate and have spent time looking at the options for my quiz in Articulate, Power Point and Ko-Su.

Also, this week I have been using my time to identify which images I require, I am due to visit Auckland this weekend so I will use this time to capture and collate the remaining photos and record the video for the project. This week I have also been concentrating on my project plan.

Work up to week ending 17Th April

This week I have been laid off from my employment which gives me the opportunity to concentrate fully on my studies, I am really enjoying creating learning material.

I have completed my project proposal and preliminary design and submitted to EITonline.

I have also started to work on which template designs to use in Power Point and exploring the options around video, audio and images.
Work up to week ending 10TH April
This week I have started to create my learning objective and the topics which will form the guide.

I have decided on creating a series of flowcharts on how to tell aircraft apart. I will also have a video which can be used to tell propeller and jet aircraft apart.

I have investigated the methodology I will use and have decided to use the RAPID prototype method as I have only ever written training/learning material for adults I feel I need to present to the audience before it is implemented fully.

For the project plan I have used the Gantt project planner to assist with the planning and time management details.

Work up to week ending 3rd April
After careful consideration I have decided to do my learning object based on aviation. I have previously worked in aviation for 5+ years. I have plenty of images of aircraft from my travels around the world so wouldn’t require many other images.

Another reason for my decision was my friends and their children are going overseas to UK in September and their eldest child loves watching planes so I decided to create some learning material so he could identify different aircraft as every time we are near an airport he asks what type of plane is that.

I have decided to do my presentation on PowerPoint as it can be used on line or downloaded to a mobile device. This week I will start my project proposal and preliminary design.
